Primal Bison Program (5 month)
Primal Bison Program
Winter 2025- spring 2026
Step into the role of a tribal hunter and take part in one of the most immersive hunting experiences offered today. The Primal Bison Program is all about building your own primitive hunting gear from the ground up and then using it in a true tribal-style bison hunt.
Over the course of the program, you’ll:
- Craft a hunting-quality bow from raw wood
-
Make rivercane arrows and fletch them with natural materials
-
Knapp stone points using traditional methods
-
Train in stalking, tracking, and hunting strategies as a group
- Practice with your gear to build skill and confidence for the hunt
The finale is a tribal bison hunt—a rare chance to join your fellow hunters in taking an animal the way it was done for thousands of years. From the creation of your weapon to the moment you loose your arrow, every step of this journey is rooted in skill, patience, and respect for the animal.
This is not just a hunt—it’s a full-circle experience. You’ll walk away not only with the meat, hide, and tools your bison provides, but with the knowledge and pride of having built everything with your own hands.
This is the 5 month program, where you will have a class one weekend for 5 months.
EDIT!
The dates for 2026 have been updated.
The only change is that the May hunt got consolidated with the archery class. We will practice archery and then hunt and process the bison.
Keep in mind that we begin archery practice on DAY ONE. And will continue practicing throughout the entire program so by March, you will have plenty of time to get proficient
Dates:
December 6-7 : Flintknapping
January 10-11 : Bow Making
February 7-8 : Arrow making
